In fact, the nation's overall contentment levels are at their second-lowest level since data collection began in 2011, according to the annual Health, Wealth and contentment Index.
And it appears that some places have more unhappy people than others. The results of this year's study have shown the regions of the UK where residents have seen the worst decline in happiness over the past 12 months.

Twenty-five percent of Brits nationwide reported experiencing less happiness overall. With only 17 percent of residents reported feeling less joyful about life, the West Midlands was found to be the region where joy had fallen the least, closely followed by the East Midlands.
