Animate's flagship store in Ikebukuro is a popular destination for anime and manga enthusiasts from all over the world, who come to browse the store's extensive collection of comics, games, and souvenirs.  The nine-story shop near the east exit of Ikebukuro Station will commemorate its 40th anniversary with a big refurbishment, with the goal of becoming the world's largest anime store. The Animate flagship shop will expand into the adjacent site of the former Ikebukuro Health Care Centre, with a grand (re-)opening slated for spring 2023.  The new complex will be a bigger and better venue for visitors to immerse themselves in the unique world of anime and manga.
